Principal's Message
I warmly welcome you to Aberdare Teachers Training College (ATTC). This college is located in the cool slopes of the Aberdare Ranges which gives a very conducive atmosphere for academic work. The college boasts of a cordial relationship with the Pondo community which is a symbolic.
Our mandate is to train Primary School and Pre – Primary teachers for Kenya and this we have done for the last six years. We are currently implementing the CBC curriculum.
As a college we are committed to excellence and work as a team to equip the teacher trainees with the 21st century skills which include but not limited to research skills, innovativeness, ICT integration, collaboration through communities of practice and problem solving.
Our teachers are polished, disciplined and have the resilience to teach anywhere in Kenya and beyond. Though new, ATTC has the basic facilities for curriculum implementation and the future is bright.
Our 2022 – 2026 Strategic Plan, gives us the road map for the next five years and with the support of all the stakeholders who include the Ministry of Education, TSC, NG – CDF and other partners we shall achieve our set targets.
There is a highly qualified team of tutors who are selfless and are totally given to the course. In our first year of sitting the Primary Teacher Education (PTE) examination, the college produced the best candidate in Kenya with a distinction of 18 points.
Over the years, we have done well in co – curricular activities participating upto the National level. The students participate in a cultural week every year.
Through UNESCO, Aberdare TTC has participated in the ASPnet club and carried out activities that contribute to environmental sustainability. Among the colleges that participated in UNESCO National competition in 2019, Aberdare TTC was ranked number one (1). This has given us an opportunity to participate in other UNESCO International activities and collaboration with Vaal College in Finland and college students from Belgium. This is an opportunity for our students to be internationally exposed.
So I welcome you to this college which is headed to very great heights. Come and join the team that is on the move………..
